Kym Hemley, MSW, MPH

Program Officer
Kym Hemley is originally from El Paso, Texas. She has completed Master's degrees in Public
Health and Social Work from Saint Louis University. She has worked internationally with various
programs and internships. Her previous
experience includes work with community groups in Mexico and Central America.
Before and during social work practicum, Kym worked with the
Language Access Metro Project (LAMP) since its creation, for the past six years
as Coordinator and Director for the LAMP program (a health and social service
agency for immigrants and refugees).
Currently she is a Program Officer with the Missouri Foundation for
Health, a newly created health foundation working to improve the health of
Missourians. Other Agency Board involvement includes the War Trauma Recovery
Project, Center for Social Justice, Southside Catholic Community Services, the
Archbishop’s Committee of Women in the Church, RICCH – Refugee and Immigrant
Community Coalition on Health, National Council on Interpretation in Healthcare,
Missouri Rural Health Association.
Her research interests include cross-cultural health care
and acculturation studies, environmental health, and health-mental health
assessment models within immigrant populations.
