Personal Background

I have worked for Central Missouri Counties’ Human Development Corporation – Head Start since 1993. I began as an assistant teacher in a 3-5 year old classroom. After spending my first year with the organization teaching, I moved into the role of Family Service worker. I realized quickly that Head Start was different from other pre-school programs in that parents are also given opportunities for growth. The realization that parent growth and involvement plays a very large and vital role in the continuing success of their children set me on a path that was to become the focus of the work I chose for my life. In 2004, I moved to a more administrative role within the program as District Manager. I am currently the Training and Technical Assistance Specialist, a position that enables me to help develop “best practice” for the children and families we serve, as well as focus on developing cultural competence in our communities.
